Vu Tran is a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. He earned his Master of Public Health degree from the University of Melbourne and dedicated over seven years to a non-governmental organization in Vietnam, advocating for health promotion for the elderly and tobacco control initiatives.

His current research focuses on balancing the harms and benefits of sun exposure in Australia. His investigation into public understanding of sun exposure and behaviours, along with evidence from a clinical trial, the Sun-D trial, on the effect of regular sunscreen use on sun-induced vitamin D production, aims to inform sun safety policies in Australia.
