Viraj Nair is a Senior Lecturer in Financial Management (FinTech) at the Royal Docks School of Business and Law, University of East London. His research focuses on blockchain governance, sustainable blockchain infrastructure, ESG, digital finance and emerging financial technologies.
Before entering academia, he spent over 12 years in the energy sector, progressing from Operations Engineer to Energy Manager across large-scale power generation projects. His interdisciplinary background combines expertise in energy systems, sustainability and financial technology, with a particular interest in the evolving relationship between blockchain, governance and energy efficiency.
He is also a doctoral researcher specialising in ESG and financial markets. His recent work examines the transition from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake blockchain systems and their implications for scalability, sustainability and institutional trust.
