Verónica Estruch García

Verónica Estruch García (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0331-8711) is a PhD. student in the Psychogerontology: Lifespan Perspective program at the Universitat de València, based in the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology. She is a beneficiary of a predoctoral training fellowship under the “Atracció de Talent” program of the Vice-Rectorate for Research at the Universitat de València.
Her research career began during the master’s program in General Health Psychology, which she completed in 2020 at the Universitat de València. In this initial stage, she investigated factors related to the sexual health of young and adult populations, addressing issues such as sexual assertiveness and sexism. Subsequently, she worked as a research technician on a project analyzing the effectiveness of an affective-sexual education program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She also contributed to the development of an adapted version of sexual health education materials for people with moderate intellectual disabilities and/or literacy difficulties, known as SALUDIVERSEX-M. This work resulted in the creation of a registered intellectual property, of which she is a co-author.
Currently, Verónica is an active member of the SALUSEX research team at the Universitat de València. Her research has focused on two main areas: the promotion of sexual health and affective-sexual education for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and more recently, the analysis of sexual health in older adults. Her doctoral thesis broadly examines the sexual health of older adults and the related factors that influence it. She also collaborates in other areas, such as the promotion of sexual health for adolescents in the child welfare system. Her goal is to contribute to the normalization of sexuality across all stages of life, particularly for populations that have traditionally been marginalized or stigmatized, thereby fostering healthy and positive sexual aging.
In addition to her research work, Verónica Estruch García teaches courses in Educational Psychology, combining educational practice with research and knowledge transfer.
