- Lecturer in Media, Communications and Cultural Studies, Goldsmiths, University of London
Vana Goblot is a Lecturer in Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Her research examines questions of cultural value and legitimacy in popular media. She has explored how “quality” is defined in 21st‑century public service television, how cultural legitimacy and identity are negotiated in and around Balkan culture, and, more recently, how new spiritual practices such as tarot are gaining visibility and authority in contemporary media and everyday life. She is co‑editor, with Des Freedman, of The Future of Public Service Television and contributed editorially to Stuart Hall: Conversations, Projects and Legacies (edited by Julian Henriques and David Morley). She is currently researching the rise of tarot practices in the 21st century.
Vana supervises PhD projects on related topics and is co‑director of the Centre for the Studies of the Balkans at Goldsmiths, University of London. She also contributes to public‑facing events and collaborations with cultural and community organisations.
