Valeria Maria Rigobon

(she/her/hers)

I received my PhD in Developmental Psychology at Florida State University (FSU) in 2023, with an interdisciplinary research focus in reading and spelling development of skilled readers, bilingual speakers, and students who have or may be at risk for dyslexia.

As a mentee in the field of developmental science research, my training at FSU and the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) was supported by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the Florida Education Fund's McKnight Pre-Doctoral Fellowship for students of underrepresented backgrounds (e.g., Latina, first generation) pursuing higher education in Florida.

My research has been published in peer reviewed journals, including Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, Behavior Research Methods, Reading Research Quarterly, and Scientific Studies of Reading.

Since moving to Sydney in 2023, I have been working as a researcher at the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy and teaching in Australian Catholic University's School of Education in North Sydney. I am also an active reviewer of submissions to various scientific journals, including Applied Psycholinguistics, Frontiers in Psychology, Journal of School Psychology, and Scientific Studies of Reading.
