I have studied medicine and philosophy, have written a dissertation in medicine (Dr. med.) and a dissertation in philosophy (Dr. phil.). I have passed my habilitation (a German degree for beeing qualified for a porfessorship) in history and theory of medicine 1993. Since 1998 I am chair for medical ethics at the University of tuebingen.
