Director and founder of the Slang and New Language Archive. Researching into lexical innovation in nonstandard varieties of English, the language of youth and intercultural issues in conditions of superdiversity. Research contributes to the Archive, to the Applied Linguistics Seminars on King's Postgraduate Language Programme and to the Language and Popular Culture Laboratory. External collaborations have included those with Universidad Central de Venezuela, Tallinn Pedagogical University, Estonia and the University of Alicante, Manchester Centre for Youth Studies and the School of English at Leicester University.
