Tony holds a PhD in Human Factors and work experience in a wide array of safety-critical industries, including construction, transport, security, and outdoor education. Tony specialises in regulatory system analysis and has co-authored several peer-reviewed papers on sociotechnical approaches to AI safety. His practitioner experience has given him a grounded understanding of the issues associated with current approaches to risk, safety management and regulation. Tony's doctoral research included projects on rail safety, global security and AI risk with the USC Centre for Human Factors and Systems Science. Tony currently works as a systems ergonomist in health and safety regulation.
