Dr Toni Pikoos is a clinical psychologist, postdoctoral researcher, and leading expert in the intersection of psychology and cosmetic procedures. With a PhD in this field, her award-winning research focuses on patient motivations, expectations, and outcomes for cosmetic interventions. Dr Pikoos is passionate about advocating for a safe and ethical cosmetic industry by strengthening partnerships between mental health and cosmetic practitioners.
Dr Pikoos played an instrumental role in the development of national practice standards in Australia requiring psychological screening of patients to determine their suitability for cosmetic procedures. She has since trained and consulted with numerous health professionals and organisations on implementing these guidelines effectively in practice.
As the Co-Founder of ReadyMind, Dr Pikoos develops screening tools, resources and training programs to support cosmetic practitioners in assessing patient readiness and addressing emotional concerns. She manages a team of psychologists providing Cosmetic Readiness Assessments. Dr Pikoos also provides therapy for individuals with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and other body image concerns.
