Tom Barnes

Tom Barnes is a sociologist of work and economy. His research focuses primarily on insecure work, labour markets and new technologies. He is currently researching logistics and automotive manufacturing. He has written two books, Informal Labour in Urban India (Routledge, 2015) and Making Cars in the New India (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and is currently completing his third book on just transitions and the demise of Australia’s auto manufacturing industry. His articles have appeared in many journals, including The Sociological Review, Environment & Planning A, and Urban Studies.
