Dr Tobias Fischer is an Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow (previously ARC DECRA Fellow) at the Queensland University of Technology, specializing in robot localization and underwater perception. His research combines neuroscience and robotics to develop intelligent systems that operate under resource constraints.
He has secured over $5M in competitive funding and currently leads major projects including the $1.3M Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program. With a PhD from Imperial College, Dr Fischer has published over 80 papers in top-tier venues and received the UK Best PhD in Robotics Award. He serves as Associate Editor for leading robotics journals and actively promotes gender diversity in STEM as co-chair of the IEEE-RAS Women in Engineering Committee.
