Tim is a Senior Research Fellow in the Macroeconomics Research Program at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economics and Social Research at the University of Melbourne.
Tim’s research interests are in applied macroeconometrics and macroeconomics. His current research focusses on evaluating the consequences of macroprudential policies, understanding the relationships between different types of macroeconomic modelling and their limitations, and modelling the Australian economy. His past research has focused on forward guidance, estimating output gaps in real time and modelling inflation.
Before joining the Melbourne Institute, Tim worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia for fourteen years in a variety of positions, including managing the section responsible for monitoring developments in the business and trade sectors as well as the macroeconomic modelling team.
He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma in Applicable Mathematics from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Bachelor of Economics with 1st Class Honours from the University of Adelaide.
