I read and teach German and European literature and thought at the University of Queensland, where I am also Head of the School of Languages and Cultures. My current projects include the intellectual fiction of J.M. Coetzee and the philosophy and literature of the European Enlightenment. I was awarded the Research Prize of the Humboldt Foundation in 2013.
