- Adjunct Professor of Disaster Risk and Resilience, University of Canterbury
After specialising in fluvial hydraulics in UK I moved to New Zealand, following which my interests developed to match the sediment-based problems of managing river, erosion, landslide, earthquake and glacial hazards. Thus I specialised sequentially in braided rivers, debris flows, rainfall-induced and coseismic landslides, earthquakes and geomorphology, and in particular applied this broad range of knowledge to the recognition and assessment of hazards and risks associated with these processes.
