- PhD Candidate in Philosophy, University of Sheffield
I'm a UKRI-funded PhD researcher in Philosophy at the University of Sheffield. My research explores how societies can respond to excessive individualism by developing more relational understandings of the self, community and social life. In particular, I apply this account to questions of social care, asking what the practical organisation of support for people with learning disabilities should look like when we take seriously the view that who we are is inseparable from the communities and relationships we are part of.
His work has received international recognition, including the $3,000 Charles Fu Foundation Prize for philosophical research, and has been published in Capitalism Nature Socialism and Asian Studies. He has presented his research internationally, including through an invited plenary address. Alongside his academic research, he writes for public audiences, including through The Conversation and the SPERI Blog. He also has experience in public policy, having worked in the office of the Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP after winning a national policy proposal competition.
