Dr Thomas Colley is a Senior Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of War Studies at King's College London and a Senior Lecturer in Defence and International Affairs at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

His research interests include propaganda, strategic communication, disinformation and their historical and contemporary use in war and politics. His research is driven by a fascination with how to better understand what publics actually think, and how they might be persuaded or resist persuasion.

His latest book, with Martin Moore, is Dictating Reality: the Global Battle to Control the News, which investigates how states are trying to manipulate the news to shape reality. His previous books include Always at War: British Public Narratives of War, and Strategic Narratives, Ontological Security and Global Policy: China's Belt and Road Initiative.

His analysis has featured in various outlets including the BBC, the Times, the Independent, the I, the Daily Telegraph, the Irish Times and Foreign Policy. He has also consulted for the UK government based on his research.
