Thom Tyerman is a Research Fellow in International Relations at the University of Edinburgh. His research explores issues of borders, migrant solidarity, and immigration detention. He has focused on the UK/Channel context for many years and is currently working on the UKRI project 'Immigration Detention: Investigating the Expansion and Global Diffusion of a Failed Project’. His first book (2022) Everyday Border Struggles: Segregation and Solidarity in the UK and Calais was shortlisted for the BISA L.H.M. Ling First Book Prize.
