My research focuses on the intersection of climate change knowledge and household behaviours. Even with increasing awareness and knowledge of the impact of climate change householders find it difficult to transition to sustainable behaviours that can ameliorate global warming. Structural and institutional constraints e.g., the cost of electric cars or the price of energy, regulate how easily we can achieve sustainable domestic lives yet often it is the affective and emotional dimensions of everyday life that determine our behaviours. My interest in how novel participatory and mobile methodologies can engage participants in collaborative and creative explorations of meaning has drawn on, performative, affect-based, non-representational geographies. I am interested in exploring lived experience as a way to understand how to best enable positive social change.
