In June 2013, political scientist Ted Schrecker moved from Canada to take up a position as Professor of Global Health Policy, Centre for Public Policy and Health, Durham University (UK). In August 2017, he moved to Newcastle University with other colleagues from Durham's School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health and in September 2022, he retired and returned to Canada. Since 2002, most of his research has focused on the implications of neoliberal globalization for health; he also has a long-standing interest in issues at the interface of science, ethics, law and public policy. Among his many publications, he is editor of the Ashgate Research Companion to the Globalization of Health (2012); a second edition of How Politics Makes Us Sick: Neoliberal Epidemics, co-written with Clare Bambra, was published in 2025.
