Susie Smillie

(she/her)

My PhD research explored young people’s well-being and creativity during school holidays through the lens of Childhood Studies and the Capabilities Approach.
Prior to completing my PhD I was a researcher in the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (University of Glasgow) for over a decade. I have worked across a variety of evaluations of complex health interventions, particularly in mental health and young people’s social and emotional well-being.
From 2021-2024 I coordinated the Emotionally Demanding Research Network in Scotland, facilitating peer support for those engaged in sensitive and emotionally demanding research.
