Sumesh Sasidharan

I am a biomedical engineer and Senior researcher at Aix-Marseille University (France) and a CIVIS3i Laureate, funded by the European Union. I was ranked among the top selected candidates globally and am the first Indian researcher to receive this prestigious fellowship. My research focuses on developing patient-specific computational models and digital twin frameworks for inflammatory heart diseases, with particular emphasis on acute myocarditis and immune-mediated cardiotoxicity. My work integrates cardiovascular biomechanics, immunology, and data-driven modelling, in close collaboration with clinicians at Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Marseille and international academic partners including the University of Glasgow.
I have previously been awarded several highly competitive international fellowships, including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme and the Australian Government Endeavour Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. My broader expertise spans multi-scale cardiovascular modelling, translational biomedical data science, and precision cardiology, with a focus on developing clinically actionable tools for diagnosis, risk stratification, and personalised treatment planning.
