Dr Suleman Lazarus earned all his university degrees in the United Kingdom. He is the author of the monograph Cybercriminals (Yahoo Boys) and Society: Hustle Kingdoms, Occult Economies, and the Colonial Politics of Digital Fraud.

He is an Associate Editor of Digital Threats: Research and Practice, the peer-reviewed journal of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

He developed the Tripartite Cybercrime Framework (TCF), which categorises cybercrimes into three core motivational categories: socioeconomic, psychosocial, and geopolitical.

His research examines the relationship between cybercrime, online deviance, and society across various contexts, including West Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, and beyond.
