The aim of my research is to understand the interaction bewtween self-organisation and natural selection. My current work is focussed on rodent thermoregulatory huddling behaviour, as a model system for investigating this interaction. Most of my published work to date has involved constructing theoretical, computational, experimental, and robotic models of the development of brain function. I am particularly interested in how the brain learns to represent physical spaces such as that occupied by the body.
