Stuart is a teacher, biomechanist and an exercise scientist working as a Lecturer in Teacher Education, Physical Education, Sport and Movement at La Trobe University (Bundoora campus). He also teaches movement and sport skills analysis subjects in the Bachelor of Education (Bundoora and Bendigo) program. His research involves the qualitative analysis of applied health and physical education (HPE) principles and pedagogy in an educational setting with a particular focus on STEM and fitness. Additional research involves the quantitative analysis of human movement to enable improvements in function and performance in various sports including triathlon, athletics, ice hockey, cycling, and axe throwing. He uses various techniques including field-based video analysis, measurements of force, and wearable technology. Through his research, he has validated sensor technology in cycling whilst assisting athletes to improve postural performance via measurement of their centre of mass.
