I am a retired Detective Chief Inspector who during my service participated on a number of national working groups on covert policing, such as covert human intelligence sources and surveillance. I am currently a senior lecturer in criminal investigation at De Montfort university, Leicester where my research interests are critical reflective practice, covert policing and miscarriages of justice. I work pro-bono for the Innocence Project at Cardiff University and am an expert witness in criminal investigation policy and procedure.
