Steve is a Professor of Biomechanics and Rehabilitation at the University of Salford, UK. His research spans three main areas: chronic musculoskeletal pain, respiratory biomechanics and the biomechanics of human running. He has undertaken laboratory research exploring the links between postural control and muscle activation during movement. Using this knowledge, he has created a completely new intervention for musculoskeletal pain, ‘Cognitive Muscular Therapy’, which integrates muscle biofeedback and postural retraining with principles from pain science.
