Stephen McCarthy

Dr. Stephen McCarthy is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Information Systems at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. His research centres on three areas: (i) digital ecosystems, (ii) IS ethics and sustainability, and (iii) human-centred IT design. Stephen has published articles in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Information Systems Journal, The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Internet Research, Information Systems Frontiers, Information Technology & People, and Computers in Human Behavior. He is a distinguished member of the AIS and a recipient of the UCC President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and a researcher of the year award from the College of Business and Law. Stephen serves as an Associate Editor for Communications of the Association for Information Systems, the Journal of Decision Systems, and as a Guest Editor for the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems. He has regularly presented and acted as an Associate Editor at premier conferences in the IS field including the International Conference on Information Systems, Hawaii International Conference on Systems Science, and European Conference on Information Systems. Stephen is Programme Chair Elect of the Special Interest Group on Decision Support and Analytics (Association for Information Systems) and previously served as a co-director of the MSc Business Analytics programme at Cork University Business School, UCC. He is also a visiting academic at the University of Agder, Norway and a guest lecturer at Amsterdam UMC/Vrije University, Netherlands and University of Münster, Germany.
