A former reporter for the Los Angeles Times and Dallas Morning News, and the author of seven nonfiction books, Stephen G. Bloom is professor of journalism at the University of Iowa. His newest book, The Brazil Chronicles, about a madcap English-language daily newspaper where he worked in Rio de Janeiro, will be released this November. In 2020, Bloom received the Distinguished Teaching in Journalism Award, conferred annually to a single university professor by the national Society of Professional Journalists.
