Stefania Fiorentino

Dr Stefania Fiorentino is an Associate Professor in Planning and Urban Regeneration at the University of Cambridge, Department of Land Economy and a Fellow of Downing College, Cambridge.

Before Cambridge, she held various roles at University College London (UCL) and London South Bank University.
Her research interests and expertise combine urban planning and economic geography for more inclusive and resilient local economic development policies and regeneration strategies. Dr Fiorentino’s research is highly impact-driven and directly engages with policymakers. She has advised a variety of governmental bodies, institutions and industry leaders. Among her various appointments, she serves as an external expert for the European Commission (EU).

Her work has been published in several leading international journals and media outlets. Among the other public engagements, Dr Fiorentino is an editor for the Cambridge Journal of Regions Economy and Society and a trustee and board member of the Regional Studies Association.

In 2026 she was named as one of the "Top Thinkers in Local Government" by the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU).
