Sophie Lovell-Kennedy

I am Co-Manager of the Durham Infancy and Sleep Centre and also a PhD candidate studying Medical Anthropology at Durham University, funded by the European Social Research Council Northern Irish and North Eastern Doctoral Training Partnership (ESRC NINE DTP). My thesis aims to address the prevention of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy in families in the North East of England using participatory research.

My areas of interest include: infant sleep (e.g. evolutionary approaches to, and cultural expectations of); matrescense; the transition to parenthood; and movement in pregnancy and post-birth.

I am passionate about ensuring that all parents have access to evidence-based advice to ensure that they can make the best choices for themselves and their children.
