Dr Sophie Davies is a Lecturer in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, with a PhD in Human Physiology and Metabolism and a background in both academic research and clinical dietetic practice. She is a Registered Dietitian, with specialist experience in the surgical and critical care setting.
She has presented her research nationally and internationally, published in high-impact journals, written articles for The Conversation and has acted as a peer-reviewer for several scientific journals. Her research experience includes working on the VitaDEx study, based at the University of Bath and in collaboration with the Universities of Cambridge and Birmingham, which investigated the effect of a 10-week exercise intervention on vitamin D metabolism and mobilisation from human tissue; the Super Rehab study, a combined dietary and exercise intervention in cardiac patients, and the Move Well Age Well study. Having recently secured local NIHR RCF, she is currently working with a NHS trust and partner institution on a NIHR grant application. She also serves as a Trustee for the British Dietetic Association's General and Education Trust Fund, reviewing grant applications with an aim to advance the science of dietetic on a quarterly basis.
