Sophia Staite is a recent PhD graduate and member of the academic precariat whose research interests include children's media and childhood studies, gender studies and queer theory, and Japanese popular culture. Sophia has worked for The University of Tasmania, The University of Sydney, The University of Queensland, and Oita University (Japan). In 2023 they were a visiting fellow with the Global Sentimentality Project at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (Germany). Sophia’s work appears in Children's Literature in Education, Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures, M/C Journal, Intersections: Gender and Sexuality in Asia and the Pacific, and The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture.
