Sonya Pastran is currently a PhD candidate in the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries at the University of British Columbia, where her research focuses on the habitat connectivity of Marbled Murrelets through the integration of movement ecology, diet, and marine habitat use. She holds an M.Sc. in Wildlife Ecology from Simon Fraser University, where she studied the marine habitat use of Marbled Murrelets in Haida Gwaii, and a B.Sc. in Ecology from the University of Calgary. Her academic training combines marine ecology, conservation biology, spatial analysis, and advanced statistical modelling to address applied wildlife conservation and management challenges.
