Sinead Harmey is an Associate Professor of Literacy Education at UCL Institute of Education. A former primary school teacher, Sinead studied towards a PhD at the Ohio State University. Her research focuses on three interdependent and complementary fields: writing development and instruction, review methodologies to ensure successful translation of research to practice, and writing research methodologies. Her knowledge in literacy and methodological expertise has resulted in sole and co-authored articles in top tier peer reviewed journals. She is currently co-editor of Literacy, a journal of the United Kingdom Literacy Association. Her article ' Learning Disruption or Learning Loss: Using evidence from unplanned closures to inform returning to school after Covid-19' published in Educational Review and co-authored with Professor Gemma Moss was chosen by the British Educational Research Association as one of the 50 landmark studies that have had a significant impact on educational policy, educational practice, research methodology and/or educational theory over the past 50 years.
