I am a Parasitologist and biomedical researcher. I am fascinated by the way parasitic single cellular organisms manage to manipulate our immune system and hugely impact our health and economy. My research is aimed at finding potential drug targets in the malaria parasite. The idea is to “know your enemy” – if we understand the parasite’s biology we will be able to design better drugs with the aim to eradicate this disease. I am generally interested in global health and infectious diseases, especially neglected tropical diseases. My early research has been on Leishmania parasites.
