- Emeritus Professor in Social Policy, University of Bradford
I have particular research interests in families, relationships, and personal life.
Recent research considers weddings as individualised conformity, living apart together (LAT), agency and bricolage, personal life in the 1950s, and the gap between assumptions and the realities of teenage motherhood.
My latest book (with Julia Carter) ‘Reinventing couples: Tradition, agency and bricolage’ presents a fresh approach to understanding changes and continuities in personal life.
