- Research Associate and Conservation Fellow under the Chester Zoo/WildCRU-University of Oxford Partnership, University of Oxford
I am a Research Associate and Conservation Fellow under the Chester Zoo/WildCRU-University of Oxford Partnership, in collaboration with the University of Sao Paulo in Piracicaba, where I am based. I received my DPhil from the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor David Macdonald with the thesis 'Human Dimensions of the Conflicts between People and Jaguars in Brazil'. I am a board member of the IUCN Task Force on Human-Wildlife Conflict and IUCN Conservation Planning Specialist Group. I serve as Associate Editor for Animal Conservation (Zoological Society of London) and Conservation Science & Practice (Society for Conservation Biology) and co-edited the book 'Human-Wildlife Interactions: Turning Conflict into Coexistence' (Cambridge University Press). I founded the Escola da Amazônia (The Amazon School), a project that earned me a Whitley Award, and my current work focuses on the science and practice of planning for human-wildlife coexistence.
