I am a doctoral student in criminal law, researching punitiveness, sentencing reforms, and the penal system. My doctoral project analyses the discursive conditions of possibility for contemporary reforms to the penal system, whereby more people are and will be incarcerated for longer. I am also working on mapping puntive reforms, analysing how such reforms are legitimized, and making visible how criminal law and criminal policy works to shape and reshape one another. My research interest include crime policy, prison law, sentencing, penalty value and proportionality, as well as youths in the penal system. I am also interested in theoretical and methodological issues and approaches, working with discourse analysis, genealogy, and WPR.
