I’m a computational linguist based in the Centre for Sustainability Research, University of Otago. I'm associated with Te Pūnaha Matatini New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence for Complex Systems within the newly established Modelling for Impact Hub. My research focuses on modelling complex social systems, with a particular interest in social inclusion, resilience, and social impact.

I completed a PhD in Linguistics based in the Geospatial Research Institute Toi Hangarau, University of Canterbury. I hold degrees in a Bachelor of Science (Linguistics), Master of Linguistics, Master of Applied Data Science from the University of Canterbury.

I was a recipient of a Fulbright Science and Innovation Graduate Award where I researched the automatic hate speech detection at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I previously worked as a Senior Design Analyst – Te Ara Takatū at Stats NZ | Tatauranga Aotearoa, supporting hapū, iwi, and iwi-related groups with their data needs.
