Shelton Woods was born and raised in the Philippines. For his first 18 years, he lived in Baguio City and moved to the United States following high school graduation. He received his MA in Modern Chinese History from California State University, Northridge and his PhD in Southeast Asian History from UCLA. He is the author of numerous books and articles. Dr. Woods has also won several awards for excellence in teaching. At Boise State University he has served in the administrative capacities of Department Chair, Associate Dean, and Dean. Woods is currently completing his fourth book on Vietnam as well as the biography of John Early--an American governor in colonial Philippines.
