Since 2005, Dr. Shefali Juneja Lakhina has contributed to a range of policy, program, and research innovations for strengthening disaster resilience. Through her work with the United Nations, she guided national and local disaster resilience initiatives across South and South East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and South-East Europe. In 2018, her doctoral research initiative 'Resilient Together: Engaging the knowledge and capacities of refugees for a disaster resilient Illawarra' received a High Commendation in the Resilient Australia Business Award Category (New South Wales). Dr. Lakhina is currently co-founder of Wonder Labs, a social enterprise that catalyzes innovations with communities on the frontline of climate impacts.
