Sheena Kumari

Professor Sheena Kumari is a leading water scientist at the Durban University of Technology
(DUT). She holds a prestigious NRF C2 rating and is a full professor at the Institute for Water
and Wastewater Technology. Her research is at the forefront of tackling global water
challenges. Her significant contributions to science have earned her national recognition,
including being the first runner-up for the DST South African Woman in Science Award in
2019. Prof. Kumari is also a dedicated mentor, guiding numerous postgraduate students and
postdoctoral fellows, ensuring her expertise and passion for a healthier environment are
