Shea Esterling

Shea is a Senior Lecturer Above the Bar in the Faculty of Law at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. She served as the Co-Chair for the American Society of International Law Rights of Indigenous Peoples Interest Group from 2021-24 and is the current Chair of the Cultural Heritage and the Arts Interest Group. Her teaching includes international law, human rights and indigenous rights. In recognition of her teaching excellence, she is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Shea regularly speaks at conferences and is published across a wide range of subjects.She is author of Indigenous Cultural Property and International Law: Restitution, Rights and Wrongs (Oxon: Routledge) 2024.
