• PhD Candidate and Clinical Researcher, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, McMaster University

Shay Freger is a PhD researcher and policy advocate working to transform how endometriosis is understood, studied, and addressed in Canada. His work sits at the intersection of clinical research, health policy, and systems reform, with a focus on chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, health equity, and the structural barriers that shape diagnosis, care, and outcomes. Drawing on expertise across biomedical research, qualitative inquiry, and public engagement, he contributes to a growing national movement to bring neglected reproductive health conditions into mainstream health policy. His work has been supported through joint efforts by Canada’s Tri-Council agencies and Health Canada, and he is recognized for bridging research, advocacy, and knowledge translation in ways that advance more equitable, evidence-based care.
