Prof. Shaw Badenhorst is a zooarchaeologist at the University of the Witwatersrand, specializing in the analysis of animal remains from archaeological sites. He completed his PhD on the faunal remains from ancient Puebloan great houses in the American Southwest. His current research focuses on past human-animal interactions, subsistence strategies, and environmental reconstructions. He has worked extensively on archaeological sites across southern Africa, contributing to our understanding of prehistoric economies, trade, and ecological changes.
