Shaon Lahiri

(he/him)

I am an Assistant Professor of Public Health in the Department of Public Sciences and Administration at the College of Charleston. I study how social forces influence our behavior in order to develop interventions to combat the incursion of harmful behaviors into our social networks. My research has explored these influences across a wide range behaviors in diverse contexts and populations. These include intimate partner violence in Rwanda, modern contraception use in Kenya, female labor force participation in the Middle East and North Africa region, tobacco use globally and specifically in China, and more. I am also an Associate Editor at the journal Nicotine & Tobacco Research.

I received a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan, an MPH from Imperial College London, a Ph.D. in Social & Behavioral Sciences in Public Health from the The George Washington University, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania. I am extremely passionate about improving the transparency and reproducibility of science, as well as robust statistical methods for modeling human behavior change.
