Selina Robinson

(She/Her)

Selina Robinson is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Investigations at the University of Portsmouth, where she contributes to teaching and research in forensic investigation, criminology and security studies.
Selina holds a BSc (Hons) in Archaeological and Forensic Sciences from Bournemouth University (2011) and an MA in Politics of Conflict and Violence from the University of Leicester. Her Master's research explored critical gaps in maritime security, specifically examining the preparedness of the cruise shipping industry and UK Government in addressing maritime terrorism threats - work that remains highly relevant to contemporary security challenges in the maritime domain.
Her professional background uniquely combines counter-terrorism intelligence and forensic investigation. Selina served as a Counter-Terrorism Prevent Officer in Special Branch with Hampshire Constabulary before training as a Crime Scene Investigator, achieving Level 1 & 2 qualifications and leading high-profile criminal investigations.
Selina's current research focuses on innovative applications of Mixed Reality technologies (MR/VR/AR) in forensic training and decision-making processes, with particular interest in how these technologies can enhance maritime security training and threat assessment capabilities. Her work bridges the gap between academic research, operational policing experience, and emerging technological solutions in the security sector.
