Sébastien Philippe est doctorant en Physique Appliquée au Département Génie Mécanique et Aérospatiale de l'Université de Princeton (USA) depuis 2012. Il est membre du programme sur la Science et la Sécurité Globale (Program on Science and Global Security) et du Laboratoire sur les Futurs Nucléaires (Nuclear Futures Laboratory). Ses travaux portent principalement sur le développement de nouvelles technologies et concepts pour permettre la vérification de futurs accords de non-prolifération et contrôle des armements nucléaires. Ingénieur INSA Lyon, il a travaillé au Ministère de la Défense de 2010 à 2012 notamment en tant qu'expert sécurité nucléaire des systèmes d’armes de dissuasion à la Direction Générale de l’Armement.
Sébastien Philippe is a doctoral student in Applied Physics at Princeton University’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His research focuses on innovative verification approaches and technologies to support future arms control treaties, including the practical implementation of zero-knowledge protocols for nuclear weapons authentication. Sébastien is a member of Princeton’s Nuclear Futures Laboratory and affiliated with the Program on Science and Global Security at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Since the spring of 2014, he is also editorial assistant for Science and Global Security – the journal. He received a master of science degree from France’s National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon (2010) and was a graduate fellow in France’s military Strategic-Research Institute (IRSEM) in Paris. In 2011-2012, he served as a safety engineer for strategic nuclear forces within the defense procurement agency (DGA).
