Scott McKinnon

Scott McKinnon is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Centre for the Study of the Inland, La Trobe University.

Scott has published extensively on histories and geographies of sexuality in Australia, particularly Sydney's LGBTQ+ communities. He is the author of Gay Men at the Movies: Cinema, Memory and the History of a Gay Male Community (Intellect Books, 2016) and the co-author of Australian Queer Screens: Diversity and Social Change on Film and TV (Bloomsbury, 2026).

Scott's research has also investigated the social impacts of environmental change, including bushfires and floods. He is the co-editor of Disasters in Australia and New Zealand: Historical Approaches to Understanding Catastrophe (Palgrave MacMillan, 2020)

Scott is Vice President of Oral History NSW.
