My research on visual art, exhibitions and museums is united in its focus on economic and political issues. Recent projects have addressed culture and free trade, collective organizing among artists in Canada, and cultural diplomacy. I am a Co-Founder of the North American Cultural Diplomacy Initiative and a member of the International Cultural Relations Research Alliance. In 2015 I held the Canada-US Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California. Before joining the faculty at Western University, I worked at Carleton University and prior to that I held a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Alberta and a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard University.
